We remain deeply concerned that local officials in Beihai have cut off my father-in-law's access to his lawyer, severing all lines of information in and out of prison, contrary to the optimism that the leaders of our two countries reached on the case. But we remain hopeful that the tireless work of this administration will be able to secure his release. All this has incidentally unfolded alongside our welcoming our new little bundle of joy, also named Ezra after his grandpa, into the world just yesterday. We pray they will meet very soon.
