NHS COVID-19 ALERT. “Today was shambolic in terms of PPE”, writes one frontline doctor. Although shortages are fewer, too many health workers have “zero access”. One nurse was advised to close her eyes if a patient with suspected illness coughed. Guidance is lacking.

Working on the front line, the one major difference I have seen is that people have become more sensible at attending the Emergency Department. Although it took #COVIDー19 for this to happen, hope the public remain sensible even when it's long gone!

What troubles me about the UK govt’s response to COVID-19 is its strategic objective. The goal seems to have been herd immunity, delaying urgent action to allow an epidemic to infect large numbers of people. Instead, the goal should have been to save lives. A grave error.
