Our global soil predictions at 30 m for 5 and 2 year periods (2000-2022 ) are now available for viewing from world.soils.app; paper has just been published at @ESSD_journal (doi.org/10.5194/essd-18-989-…). You can download GeoTIFFs (open data license) with 5-year predictions of soil carbon content, soil carbon density (kg/m3), soil pH, soil texture fractions, bulk density and USDA subgroup soil types. We are working on a systematic update and on adding more soil variables getting a better estimate of organic soils. Stay tuned for updates and new data releases. With many thanks to the reviewers and comments; funding from @landcarbonlab and @REA_research funded @EarthMonitorOrg and @AI4SoilHealth projects. Also many thanks to all organizations sharing and maintaining soil (field) laboratory data without this work would not have been possible: USDA NRCS National Soil Survey Center, the Africa Soil Information Service (AfSIS), the European Soil Data Center, ISRIC – World Soil Information and many others. Many thanks to all co-authors also for helping collate the biggest predictive soil mapping project to the date. Paper: doi.org/10.5194/essd-18-989-… Data: github.com/openlandmap/soild… Webinar: youtu.be/443HBf1GIGI?si=x8fC… Join some of our upcoming events to learn about this data, how to access and use it, and how to potentially extend and improve it: earthmonitor.org/global-work…. It took me almost 8 years to move from 250 m to 30 m resolution. Next update should take exponentially less time hopefully.

🚨 Excited to share our latest findings in @NatureGeosci! We found that Rossby waves cause synchronized GPP declines in high-pressure regions. Even more concerning: when hot-dry conditions hit extreme levels, there are non-linear GPP reductions. nature.com/articles/s41561-0…
