The Elizabeth Bryan Multiple Births Centre is a research partnership between Birmingham City University and the Multiple Births Foundation that has developed an international reputation for educating and advising healthcare professionals in the specialist needs of multiple birth families. The centre will be running a series of 'World Cafe' events in December and January at the ThinkTank in partnership with the TwinsTrust, focused on researching the first 1001 days of multiple birth babies, from conception to two years old. Research has shown that this period is crucial for development, but policies often focus on one parent and one child, leaving multiple birth families feeling overlooked and left out. Through the World Café, the Elizabeth Bryan Multiple Births centre are bringing together multiple birth families and healthcare professionals with the aim to improve services for the better. The financial cost of having multiples is at least £20,000 more than having two singletons in succession. Why are our families paying a huge twin tax? There are solutions - a fairer maternity system offering maternity pay per baby. Write to your MP 👉buff.ly/3T99lqM

Our childcare system must work for children, for parents and for the economy. These are the building blocks of a society that’s set up to care for its twins, triplets and more. 1/2
