In 2025, Burkina Faso ordered every NGO to transfer all funds from commercial banks to a state repository. What if those NGOs had understood Bitcoin before the decree? This is why we built HakiFedha: hakifedha.org/

Since 2022, no one has shown up for Zambia’s Bitcoin community like the founders of @BtcBanamayo. From our first meetups to major events, they’ve been a driving force behind our growth. Shoutout to @Tilo_Nurse & @TamaraMountain

A friend of mine had USD on a Zimbabwean bank account - over night the money was converted to the worthless Zimbabwean Dollar. This is one of the stories that shaped my thinking about money, power, and human freedom. The full talk will be published soon.

The closing panel of the Freedom Tech Track at the 2026 @OsloFF brought together @ihate1999, @AnaiseKanimba, @obi, and @waithiraah to discuss one of the most important questions in the bitcoin ecosystem: how do we make bitcoin practical for everyday people? A key theme throughout the discussion was that Africa represents one of the largest opportunities for bitcoin adoption globally. From payments and savings to financial inclusion and economic freedom, the continent is already demonstrating real-world bitcoin use cases at scale. The conversation explored how builders, entrepreneurs, and advocates are creating tools that expand freedom, reduce barriers to access, and make bitcoin more useful in people's daily lives. Day 1 of our Lightning Developer Bootcamp in Bujumbura, Burundi 🇧🇮 is a wrap! We started with the fundamentals, exploring what money actually is, tracing its history, and examining what makes good money. Bitcoin doesn't just meet those criteria; it redefines them. From there we moved into the technical layer: how Bitcoin transactions are constructed, how cryptographic signatures (ECDSA) work, and the relationship between private and public keys. We closed the day by unpacking blocks and the blockchain itself, the data structure that makes it all trustless. Shoutout to our instructors @heyolaniran and @advaxeir, you set the tone perfectly for what's going to be an incredible 5 days. None of this happens without the support of our amazing sponsors and partners, @btrustteam, @HRF, @Tether_Africa, @afribitcoiners, @planb_network, @bitdevsgtga, and @freetechite. Thank you 🙏 On to Day 2...

Over the past few years, BitDevs communities across Africa have been building technical spaces rooted in learning, openness, and collaboration. Today, we’re sharing the guide that brings those lessons together. The BitDevs Playbook v0.1.0 is the first public release of a practical, open‑source guide for building and sustaining Bitcoin‑only technical communities across the Global South. Grounded in real experience from BitDevs communities across Africa, it explains what BitDevs is, why the model works, and how to start, run, and sustain high‑quality technical meetups with shared standards around learning, privacy, neutrality, and non‑commercial focus. In the accompanying blog, we reflect on why BitDevs matters, how the model creates space for open discussion and open‑source contribution, and how communities across Africa have grown beyond monthly meetups into hubs of ongoing learning and collaboration. It’s written for organizers, contributors, sponsors, and community members who care about Bitcoin’s technical future. The Playbook is fully open‑source and meant to be used, adapted, and improved by the community over time. 👉 Read the blog to understand what the Playbook is and why it matters: blog.btrust.tech/introducing… 📘 Explore the Playbook to see how it works and contribute: github.com/btrustteam/the-bi… 🧵👇
