Hey builders, what part of your homelab takes the most time to maintain? #selfhosting #homeserver #raspberrypi

The first prototype of our Raspberry Pi cluster taught us something important. It worked. But it was also messy. Too complex to assemble. Too cumbersome to maintain. Not as easy to upgrade as we'd like. The problem wasn't compute. The problem was living with the system long-term. That's one of the reasons we're building Hive 🐝 Read the full story blackdevice.com/the-problem-…

Homelab power usage is not just a power bill problem. It changes architecture. What stays on 24/7? What gets consolidated? Which disks spin all day? Which services need dedicated hardware? What is your current idle power draw, and are you happy with it? #HomeLab #SelfHosting

Building a Raspberry Pi cluster is easier than ever. Living with it for the next three years is the harder challenge. Our latest article explores why maintainability, serviceability and modularity matter just as much as compute power, and how those questions eventually led us to build Hive. Credits to @geerlingguy and @Raspberry_Pi that have contributed enormously to the ARM and homelab community 👉blackdevice.com/the-problem-…
