Columnar file formats like Parquet/ORC are ubiquitous. Our VLDB paper with @XinyuZeng218 @huanchenzhang @wesmckinn studies their internals.
TLDR: They're not optimized for modern hardware. Something new is needed.

We've used KnoxDB in previous indexer products and battle-tested it in production. Now is the time for everyone to try.
KnoxDB is still an early product and we're just getting started. Expect some heavy re-engineering and many new features in the future.
