The next time imposter syndrome gets you down, or you have this mistaken belief that everyone around/above you 'knows what they are doing'... recite the message below.

none of us know what the fuck we're doing & that is totally ok. so much of what we do is learned through experience with new projects & new perspectives. we all start somewhere & everyone is constantly learning. you're kind of an idiot - we all are -but it's gonna be ok.

Or, maybe, we teach and evaluate *in* classrooms, using explicit instruction, worked examples and all the other awesome learning science primitives. Maybe, we even use AI to help teachers be *more effective*.
In 10 years, we'll realize young adults can't read, write, or think as well as they should. We'll wonder how we allowed students to offload huge chunks of their learning to AI. Today we're just watching it happen. This is the most obvious unforced error of our time.

I love that we keep adding more resources that can be assigned AND governed by entitlement management access packages. If your org is still doing access management the traditional way you really should explore how to modernize access beyond just groups using Entra
Hot off the press: Entra ID Governance Entitlement management native support for Azure resources in access packages is now in public preview! learn.microsoft.com/en-us/en…

The one really important question on AI defense right now is "What happens to your codebase / arch / infra when you let AI modify it unsupervised?". There's no other way to deal with the flood of security reports, but I am not hopeful the answer to the above is a positive one

I'll flip to the other side of the coin and not ask what you are doing to integrate AI into your work. What are you doing to keep your expertise and human skills sharp? Really, if you're doing the first thing well, it should be mutually supporting.

Brilliance in the basics. And what's funny is how many people neglected the basics and now want to move fast with AI.
When you "hit a wall" in something you are trying to learn, it's typically just a massive debt of unlearned prerequisites that are finally being called due.

All cyclists implicitly learn this one way or another. You can be right or make it home alive, your choice.
Put another way, you have the right of way in the crosswalk, and you can be right stepping out into traffic to cross, but that big ass truck speeding towards may kill you just the same, so it's better to consider that it's not just about you being right but also alive.

Great summarization from @mgeist this morning on the complexities of digital sovereignty.
10 Dec 2025
The quest for Canadian digital sovereignty is caught in a catch-22 as it requires more than simply localizing data within national borders or ensuring Canadian companies control it. While these measures are often touted as solutions, they fail to address the larger challenges posed by global digital ecosystems dominated by foreign tech giants. True digital sovereignty entails not only controlling where the data is stored but also understanding the complex infrastructure and networks that process and manage this data. Relying solely on geographic and nationalistic strategies may provide a false sense of security, as the technical and political complexities of the digital world transcend borders. Canada must invest in developing its own robust digital infrastructure and enhancing cyber-security capabilities to truly safeguard its digital interests. Building international alliances with like-minded nations could also help create a cooperative framework for data governance. Ultimately, achieving true digital sovereignty requires a comprehensive strategy that balances national interests with the realities of an interconnected digital world.
