Rod Brind'Amour on how the Carolina Hurricanes make new players feel welcome and says he has an "easy" job because of it: "It's the five guys that have been here forever [Staal, Slavin, Aho, Svechnikov, Martinook]. It's their team. They get it. I guess the thing I'd say is I got an easy job. I don't have to micromanage stuff like that. We bring in a player, Jordan knows we've got to get this guy and his family to feel welcome. And then the style of play we have, I think we let people play. Yeah, you've got to play hard. They all know that that's how you win. And then their talent takes over. And that's kind of how we've preached it, and I think it's actually pretty easy." #CarolinaCulture #SoundTheSiren #StanleyCup

People don’t understand how good peak Taylor Hall was. Obviously his Hart Trophy and these playoffs are his crowning achievements but Oilers Hall had an insane stretch from 2012/2014, he ranked 5th in PPG behind only Crosby, Malkin, Stamkos and Getzlaf in that span.

‘Obsession’ director Curry Barker says studios must understand that Gen Z audiences are “tired of slop.” “We want good movies back. People are still hungry for movies that are original without some big IP, as long as the story is good.” (Source: hollywoodreporter.com/movies…)

Ya, I just can’t see the Oilers going through with this? Zero reason to make your team a less desirable destination over a undesirable coach

Canes winning the cup with their smart nerdy nhl gm who used to be a hockey blogger and you’ll still have ppl on here insisting that you can’t know puck if you didn’t play or that hiring an old hockey man is the only possibility.

This is my goat
I can understand why the default would be to trust that NHL teams know more about every aspect of the game than random bloggers.

Feeling vindicated tonight!
Small players and analytics driven management groups winning Cups is gonna break some brains.

It definitely was. Him and Carrier. MSM were unsure though because Cody was nice to them. The streets knew...

"I don't want to hear another word from the NHL, the NHLPA or the Oilers about how mental health is important to us. I'm sorry, but this guy gets off on warfare on his players. I've never denied he knows the game of hockey from a technical standpoint, but he is a bully. That is who he is. To say I'm disappointed would be putting it lightly," Commodore on Babcock potential hiring.

Hiring Mike Babcock is a troubling sign for the Oilers. It signals an organization stuck in the past, clinging to old names instead of embracing new ideas.
