Twitter is now X? I might finally be outta here. I think they forgot the 'e' in front of the X.

This cube could mark the epicenter of my college years in NYC. My first dorm was two blocks northwest of it, my second dorm three blocks northeast, and most all of my classes three or four blocks southwest. archpaper.com/2023/07/tony-r…

Excited to learn my photo of the sculpture "East Wind" by Toma Villa (hanging in the PAE Living Building lobby) is going to be published in an upcoming book about Pacific Northwest indigenous sculptors.

I love this collage sent to me as a gift by Seattle artist Nell Nordlie. The pieces are from old sheet music, maps, ration stamps, graph paper, receipts, packaging, transit tickets, blueprints, price tags, canceled checks, promotional materials, etc.

Still savoring this match a day later. Alcaraz isn't just an insanely great 20-year-old. He didn't just slay the player with the most grand-slam titles and win Wimbledon in only his fourth grass-court tournament. He's restored the beautiful game missing since Federer retired.
From @TheAthletic: In more than a decade, 45 players failed to beat Novak Djokovic on Centre Court. But Carlos Alcaraz is different. Djokovic said it best: "I haven’t played a player like him ever, to be honest." nyti.ms/3rzfAcw

Doing an art trade with a friend, and she surprised me by choosing my 2009 photo of the Washington High School gym demolition.

Luckily the circa-1924 school itself was not demolished. Revolution Hall is there now, in the former school auditorium. But I do remember halfway through the demo seeing the gym without a roof.

I love this story and the photos that go with it. Inaccurate circa-1930s dinosaur sculptures, on the site of a landmark that itself burned down 87 years ago.
“They weren’t built to last that long.” Victorian-era statues of extinct animals are still at London’s Crystal Palace Park, some 170 years later. They’re rusting and no longer considered scientifically accurate. But they delight visitors all the same. nyti.ms/3XP0xHG

For some reason, I almost feel like I could frame this photo.

Wow, I really like the look of the new Gresham library, now under construction. It's officially not a David Adjaye project anymore. Local firm @Holst_Arch gets all the credit now. I'm pretty sure I can clearly see both fingerprints. holstarc.com/news/multnomah-…

My latest for @dwell is about a nicely done Seattle ADU, or as they call them there, a DADU, which to me sounds more like something out of Mork & Mindy. Still, much respect to anyone who builds their own home. dwell.com/article/budget-bre…

Perusing old photos this morning and came across this fave: a dormant Ferris wheel at Oaks Park, taken somewhat appropriately in December 2020.

Because @SideshowValarie and I have stayed at the same central Oregon cabin seven times, I've discovered that I have four different versions of the same basic panorama photo of Crooked River Canyon: from 2023, 2021, 2020 and 2019.

A few shots of the renovated circa-1903 Water Tower building in the John's Landing neighborhood. First renovated in the early seventies by the great architect John Storrs for developer John Gray, its new re-renovation is by Scott Edwards Architecture. Nicely done.

My latest @dwell story is about Oregon's first house built with cross-laminated timber, on a forested property an hour north of Portland near Scappoose, by British architect Alan Morris. dwell.com/article/budget-bre…

When I grow up and become a movie director, I will also insist on writing the screenplay (and literary adaptations don't count).
