I'm struggling to think of a worse, more unnecessary hill for any government to choose to die on. One million people have already signed a petition against ID cards. If we’re serious about rebuilding trust, this is the last place to start. It's like deciding to become a pacifist and then walking into your roughest local pub and knocking everyone's pints out of their hands. It's actually mind boggling.

Thought of this piece by @brokenbottleboy today as @bbcnickrobinson introd'ed @BellRibeiroAddy by her X profile descrition on #r4today Less like objective journalism, more a not so subtle setting the tone for the interview 🤔🧐 Socialist, anti-racist, feminist 👏🙌
Thanks @brokenbottleboy for this One for #r4today listeners & @bbcnickrobinson Today it's Angela Rayner although it never seems to be scrutinising Nigel Farrage 🤔 political media journalists, neutrality? 🤔🤨 open.substack.com/pub/broken…

Yes, AI requires an absolutely massive amount of energy, but you have to keep this in perspective. It also generates terrible images and the worst writing you’ve ever read. bloomberg.com/news/articles/…
