1. I’ve been amused by people saying “can’t reward teams who didn’t even reach the conference title game,” like these conferences aren’t too big and everyone played everyone and settled it on the field. Five years ago, making a conference title game meant more because there wasn’t a four-way tie at the end in every league. Half the teams that get into the conference title games get in on some bullshit tiebreaker to begin with. The conferences are too big and it makes the sport dysfunctional. 2. The architecture? There are teams on the West Coast in the Atlantic Coast Conference. Someone with a broken hand drew college football’s current blueprint. It's entire existence as a sport doesn't make sense. 3. Stop acting like this is the first time a team would fall out of the CFP after losing in a conference title game. It happened semi-regularly for the first 10 years of the playoff system.
