American protest literature is one of the most interesting and rich fields of literature. From the AIM movement to the civil rights movement, and even gay liberation movements, do you guys have any recommendations?

My good friend James Berger talked about this in 1972 in his documentary Ways of Seeing, and in his essays. "Men look at women. Women watch themselves being looked at."
"deriving pleasure from being attractive in the third person" is exactly how I felt in my experiences with men. In the clinical world, we call it dissociation.

I think it is pretty justified to be concerned about a work grounded in reactionary purity politics and anti-Asian xenophobia since those two ideologies actually frustrate queer emancipation in the long run
i do think it’s a red flag when people hate on heartstopper a little too much

whenever the female enters political propaganda as a figure she must always be erotiziced and she must be a slut, a succubus, a sexy seductress. no humanity is given to her.

"Be gay, do crime" Okay what if I wanna be gay and kill the tyrants of our city and be forever known as the tyrannicides with you?

okay one last post before I sleep but "an ethnic country" might be the most convoluted leftslop I've ever seen. It cannibalises itself.

i understand the sentiment but these statements are useless. medical bodily autonomy doesnt have to be morally correct to other people. even if women wanted an abortion like they'd want an ice cream cone, it'd be fine

grinds my gears a bit when people do the "heh.... that's kind of GAY" when confronted with misogyny. like obviously the answer is that they will abuse an underclass of sexually exploited women. please stop trying to dunk on these people

I have a feeling that a lot of you would join the Bajrang Dal if someone convinced you that beating up couples on Feb 14 is anti-imperialist, decolonial praxis.

I hate to break it to you buddy, but no matter what you think of women's erotica & especially the dark romantasy dreck, no actual human beings are trafficked, raped, coerced or harmed by any of it. Something the porn industry could never say.
Replying to @ljmontello
Why do women consume porn like the bestselling women’s porn book about having sex with an animal and the animals CREAM COMING over her thigh… Plus, the bestselling Β women’s porn book 50 Shades of Grey about SA… Plus, why do 62% of women have SA fantasies and many weekly…

Patriarchy is a societal structure of livingβ€”a living environment charecterised by phallocentrism, sexism, and misogyny. It is not attraction while it impacts attractions. Lesbians very much exist within the patriarchy.
Replying to @starcaressed
no i totally get you bc lesbian is the only sexuality completely removed from the patriarchy in terms of attraction and gender and that makes being one suchhhh a different experience than other queer identities

Saw 2 bookstagrammers post a video making fun of problematic authors. They called the zionist a zionist, the transphobe a transphobe, but the rapist was called "on some diddy shit." Misogyny and patriarchal violence against women played up as humour is so pervasive

Since for these people left = only anti-usa. They are pro Russia, pro IR, pro any dictatorship, theocratic or not, that oppresses its people as long as its anti-usa. They do politics like football fans, no moral ideology behind it.
so why are leftists hating on marjane satrapi? since when did so many leftists believe an oppressive, racist, and homophobic regime such as the islamic republic is above criticism? it’s crazy to me

i like how whenever the conversation of heteropatriarchy and queerness in india arises, nobody even tries to chime in that castiesm is the most prominent reason why india hates "love marriages". along with zero mentions of dalits and lower caste queers who suffer the most πŸ€”
