.@BBC insisting on reporting racist rioters as 'protestors' and 'demonstrators' is a gross misrepresentation of the violence impacting communities of colour across the UK. Language matters.
“Protests”. You keep saying “protests” @BBCNews - do you mean white supremacists are on the streets terrorising Muslims? What exactly are they “protesting” against?

I woke up at 4 am to follow the election news and the coverage these guys provided was absolutely sensational. As someone who teaches South Asian history and politics it is always humbling to learn from those with genuine on the ground granular knowledge.
Collaborations between news organizations are rare, but we managed to pull it off. We- @thenewsminute @newslaundry @thewire_in @scroll_in and @thecaravanindia know that our strength is in numbers and it’s been a superb experience.

These are horrendous scenes. Let no one ever ever say our pandemic era students are ‘snowflakes.’ They are the very best of us.

A lot to digest here, but there’s no doubt it’s a powerfully argued piece about the historical relationship between fossil capital, western political interests in the Middle East, and the current war on Gaza.
Six months of bombing, of destruction, of genocide - a new horrific phase in a long history of colonization and extraction. Understanding the present crisis, Andreas Malm argues, requires a longue durée analysis of Palestine's subjugation to fossil empire versobooks.com/en-gb/blogs/n…

Here are some of the other attacks on aid workers in Gaza which have not had the same investigative treatment by the IDF. They did not draw the same international outrage either.

This was a fantastic way to start the week. This was a brilliant thesis, a pleasure to read and I learned a great deal from it.
