Seeing queens happily buzzing away in glorious machair, feasting on Kidney Vetch, with baskets full of pollen has filled my heart with so much joy ๐

Thereโs lots of tussocky grass to choose from at @cumbriawildlifeโs Gosling Sike garden, but a Common Carder queen has decided to make her home in a raised bed (full of herbs! ๐ชด)

A sedge filled Sunday with @bumble_being today near Orton in Cumbria. Over 15 species seen in the wetlands and flushes including these 8. Hair Sedge, Flat Sedge, Dioecious Sedge, Great Fen-sedge, Tufted Sedge, Long-stalked Yellow-sedge, Flea Sedge and Star Sedge.

Found a snazzy looking nomad bee yesterday at a local NNR, which turns out to be the rare Nomada roberjeotiana!
Iโve not seen its host, Tormentil Mining Bee, there before, so I walked back to a good Tormentil patch & there it was!
