To mark #NationalInsectWeek, weโre highlighting Shibata Zeshinโs 1881 two-fold screenโan exquisite example of urushi-e (lacquer painting) on gold-dusted paper. Insects like dragonflies, wasps & butterflies are caught in a delicate web, blending art with natural observation.
