California State Parks Week is underway! Yesterday Secretary @WadeCrowfoot and our partners were at Great Valley Grasslands State Park to celebrate a project connecting the San Joaquin River to the historic floodplain. Now, when the river floods, more of the water goes into the state park and creates a seasonal wetland, helping to reduce downriver flood risk on communities, restore wetland habitat, and restore the groundwater basins in the Central Valley. We're building water infrastructure that works with nature, not against nature.

DWR is proud to have provided over $3.5 million in funding through the DWR Small Community Drought Relief Grant Program to the Banning Heights Mutual Water Company for critical water system improvements, including a brand-new one-million-gallon reservoir. This project is crucial to ensuring water availability for the community, guaranteeing basic health and safety needs are being met, ensuring firefighters have immediate access to water, and reducing water quality impacts. This project aligns with our vision of smart, sustainable, and climate resilient water solutions to ensure every Californian has access to clean and reliable water for daily life, agriculture, job security, potential recreation and more. #California #Project #Grant #Funding #Water #Improvements
