Nikola Tesla died broke in a hotel room with a pigeon as his only companion. Thomas Edison died a celebrated millionaire. Edison won the business war. But Tesla won the actual war. AC power runs the entire planet. Edisons DC lost. The man who died broke literally powers civilisation. But heres what nobody talks about. Tesla wasnt just a better inventor. He was a better thinker. He could build entire machines in his head. Test them mentally. Find the flaws. Fix them. And then build the physical version that worked first time. Edison tried 10,000 things until something stuck. Tesla thought until the answer was obvious and then built it once. Two completely different approaches. Edison was volume. Tesla was depth. Edison was brute force. Tesla was elegance. The world celebrated the brute force guy because he was better at marketing. But the elegant guy changed everything. The lesson for builders. You can be right and still lose the narrative. You can be brilliant and still die broke. Being right is not enough. You also have to be heard. Tesla's tragedy wasnt his genius. It was his inability to tell people about it in a way that made them care. Build the best thing. But also learn to tell the story. Both matter. Ignoring either one is how you end up dead in a hotel room having changed the world while nobody noticed.

If they put you on a PIP, send this email within 24 hours: The moment you're put on a performance improvement plan, most people panic. Try not to do that, and instead, send this email: Subject : PIP Acknowledgment and Request for Clarification Thank you for meeting with me today regarding the performance improvement plan. To ensure that I fully understand the expectations, I’m requesting written clarification on the following information: 1. Specific, measurable metrics for success during this period. 2. A timeline and the frequency of feedback meetings. 3. The resources or support that will be provided to help me succeed. 4. Confirmation that these expectations align with my official job description, dated (insert date). I’m committed to meeting these goals, and I want to ensure we have a clear, documented understanding. Please provide this information in writing within 48 hours so I can begin immediately. Thank you. This does three very powerful things: 1. It shows that you're cooperating. 2. It forces them to define vague expectations in writing. 3. It creates a paper trail that protects you.
