My May/June companion. I struggled so much with this book. Not because it was bad but because I was from reading another book with an almost similar theme. Moving from one heavy book to another is not a joke. It can really do your head in.

For her she saw it as love rather than abuse and the journey of her finally coming to the realisation it was really abuse, isn't pretty. In most scenes she will come off as annoying and stupid but when you've been groomed from a young age, your reality isn't the same as anyone...

Title: Kim Jiyoung, born 1982 Author: Cho Nam-Joo Rating: 5⭐ First of all the cover of the book is brilliant. The outline of a woman's face without any other features is genius. This book is an eye opener on every day challenges women go through.....

In short it talks about how misogyny is prevalent in each and every space. We truly have a long way to go. #feministbooks #readforeignbooks

Title: Almond Author: Won- Pyung Sohn Rating: 5⭐ My only regret was not being able to read this book in its original form. I know there are some nuances that could only be conveyed in its original language and couldn't completely be captured in the translation... #almond

I did not want to finish this book, not because it was bad but because I wanted to savour it knowing full well I will never get to experience it again for the first time. I am aware it's someone's true story and they are being vulnerable with the world,

What I loved most about the book, is the vivid description of everything, from the food, to the hotel, to the house and so forth and romanization of Korean vocabulary to make them easy to read and understand.

As someone who is interested in Korean culture and enjoys entertainment from SoKor, I could easily picture everything. Like how she found comfort in the little things that reminded her of her mother and her roots, I can confidently say, I have found my comfort book. #bookreview
