It’s out!
It’s very exciting to see the final results of the US phase III RCT of IMPT versus IMRT for oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma. Data have been percolating for some time at conferences (and social media), and it’s great to be able to crunch through the actual paper.
I think our community owes a debt of gratitude to the investigators for pulling this trial off. It takes passion, perseverance and just raw time and effort to make such a study happen, and the resultant information is really valuable.
There is a lot to go through here, I’ll start with my final conclusion, which is that IMPT is A, but not THE, standard-of-care for oropharyngeal cancer.
