I try to refrain from hyperbole when weighing in on contentious social media debates, because often the truth is somewhere in the middle. For instance, while the death of Renee Good was very sad, I think it's quite plausible the officer had a reasonable justification in the moment. It's possible that the officer who shot Alex Pretti was also justified. There's no way to tell from the video. But it's abundantly, absolutely clear that the Trump administration is lying about what happened. Notice I said "lying" and not "wrong." There's no way around this. Kristi Noem and Stephen Miller have claimed he's a domestic terrorist who had every intention of harming cops. They have not presented a shred of evidence for this, except that he possessed a gun. Having a gun is a cherished Second Amendment right! Other Trump figures, including Patel and Bessent, have cited the gun possession as illegal given his participation in a protest. They are misinformed about this and should stop talking. The admin seems to think that they have to defend every single action taken by law enforcement, no matter how wrong or suspect, no matter how many constitutional rights require sacrificing. Deeply wrong, and frankly shameful, and it would be nice to see universal condemnation from supporters of the First and Second Amendments. reason.com/2026/01/25/the-tr…

I disagree with this, in that I think @bariweiss is substantively talented, but mostly I want you all to forget about your Bari gripes, if you can, and focus on *The Trump administration paid $$$ to imprison innocents in a place where they were beaten and sexually assaulted*

The irony is that @nytimes is partially responsible for this @CBSNews debacle because it hired Bari Weiss as a diversity hire for conservatives, providing her a huge platform she has used to springboard to other things even though she has no real reporting experience.

Gushing over a political murderer is indeed the worst of leftism, but trying to ensure procedural norms for someone imprisoned (not just deported) without due process is a liberal-coded impulse that conservatives have every reason to respect. x.com/realchrisrufo/status/1…

Corey Booker going to El Salvador to rescue Kilmer Abrego Garcia is the male equivalent of Taylor Lorenz gushing over Luigi Mangione. Empathy turned pathological.

Punishing journalists for not adopting state-mandated terminology is an alarming attack on press freedom. That's viewpoint discrimination, and it's unconstitutional. President Trump has the authority to change how the U.S. government refers to the Gulf. But he cannot punish a news organization for using another term. The role of our free press is to hold those in power accountable, not to act as their mouthpiece. Any government efforts to erode this fundamental freedom deserve condemnation.

I would really appreciate it if people running for president of the United States understood the First Amendment.
