I’ve had some great times here, made new connections, learned loads and, I hope, offered insight on HIV and LGBTQ issues. I’m going to take a break from X for a while. I will be on 🧡 and πŸ¦‹. If you’ve enjoyed me, I’d be grateful if you shared this so others can find me. πŸ™πŸ˜˜

So sad that the East/West divide in #Enfield has even impacted Halloween - v clear on Nextdoor last night that the more affluent side of the borough were trick or treating in force, almost zero on the other😧 @EnfieldDispatch

This is why we need a national prostate cancer screening programme alongside breast cancer screening. It didn’t have to be this way and I’m sad at this news #ChrisHoy theguardian.com/sport/2024/o…

πŸ“£Success! After our months-long campaign on the Carer’s Allowance overpayments scandal, we're pleased the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions @leicesterliz has commissioned an independent review to assess how overpayments accrued on such a vast scale

Many thanks to @SELMATAHA8 and the team at @SBSisters for your insights this first week of #BlackHistoryMonth2024 - you are true Changemakers πŸ’ͺ🏾✊🏾
Though Black people, their stories & cultures, should be celebrated daily, #BlackHistoryMonth is an opportunity to acknowledge legacies of structural inequality & to reflect on reform. Our Director @SELMATAHA8 speaks to @RespectUK @Drive_Partners about #ReclaimingNarratives πŸ‘‡

Dame @Rachel_deSouza talked about the need for health and education to work together as a response to youth criminal activity - we’ve stopped talking about the riots. There is an anxiety crisis as well as a mental health crisis #CPC24
Then, we heard from Dame @Rachel_deSouza, the Children’s Commissioner for England. She opened by noting that COVID was a negative turning point for mental health among children, especially those who were disadvantaged.

I would like people who talk about how idyllic lockdown was for them to have a listen to this harrowing testimony. We must never forget and the workforce suffering from PTSD must be supported.
I really do worry people have forgotten what Covid-19 was like for NHS staff. I went onto ICU wards and saw it myself. I spoke to staff broken by relentless death. @Kevin_Fong testimony @covidinquiryuk needs to be heard:

We're pleased @Keir_Starmer has promised security and 'a roof over their head' for domestic abuse survivors. The government must put tackling economic abuse at heart of its mission to halve Violence Against Women and Girls in a decade - working with us to drive systems change.
One of the biggest claps so far for the promise that victims of domestic abuse "will have the security they deserve, they will have a roof over their head" #LabourConference2024

Very concerning findings in this new report from @centreWJ, drawing on the experiences of 200 women. The report identifies key steps that must be taken, including urgently addressing significant gaps in the collection and recording of data on perpetrators. Summary in thread⬇️
🧡Our new report – published today - reveals shocking levels of domestic abuse by police officers continues and police forces are struggling to tackle the abuse of power or recognise that abuse off duty must be addressed. centreforwomensjustice.org.u…

I am not going to deactivate my account just yet, but I will be doing my engagement elsewhere for now. I still need to use X for work, but the sudden drop in my own followers after 16 years is telling me all I need to know. Take care on here, people.

This Sunday morning I will be praying for Bebe King, Elsie Dot Stancombe, Alice Dasilva Aguiar, their families and other victims injured. Freedom of speech & freedom to protest must never be violated to allow and normalise racism, violence, rioting and online misinformation.
