We can use our words to tear down or to build up. We can use them to hurt or to heal. Our words are powerful. Our students notice them, and so do our colleagues.

“...When scholars work without access to proper data, they are unable to tell us stories about our world and ourselves that can only be unearthed when expert analysis is applied to a thorough rendering of the raw facts.”
Why are Canadian researchers (and journos) always using US stats? Bc our data collection and transparency is terrible. First in a pretty important series theglobeandmail.com/canada/a…

Do you have students who are overlooked? This school has a brilliant method for making sure every child is known.
I am very well, thank you. How are YOU? I hear things are changing at EQAO. I am sure you are keeping busy.

A “visible learner” understands what learning “is” and can articulate their learning and the learning process. We typically don’t teach this in our schools. #OhioVL @VisibleLearning

The issue is what math we are teaching, not the value of math as a subject. Statistics, probability, computation, estimation, & financial literacy should be taught to every student. When you make math all about “solving for X,“ you lose most kids. @dintersmith @CathyNDavidson
Replying to @DrTonyWagner
I concede to students they will likely never solve an equation outside of class. One might argue the same can be said in any subject. Place value on the process of learning, the struggle and the success. Speaking negatively about math based on a dislike of testing isn't helping.
