"The sun doesn't shine at night." Neither do petrol stations refine fuel in your driveway, coal dig itself out of the ground, or gas teleport to your home. Every system has constraints. The winners solve them cheapest. The losers mistake today's problem for tomorrow's outcome.

I believe these short range Tesla Semis are already spoken for. They will be destined for drayage at CalifIrnia ports, and hundreds have already been ordered.
Tesla Semi Factory Proof of Production! This June 11, 2026 footage shows 6 newly manufactured Tesla Semi's. Interestingly, 4 are standard-range and 2 are long-range models.

Exploring abandoned mines? Hell, no! I can think of few things that are more foolhardy and dangerous than that. No. Just no. I stumbled across this post recently. In Nevada we have a saying: Abandoned mines, stay out and stay alive! I still remember a school teacher and his friend who decided to explore a mine in Virginia City. They climbed over a fence to get there. Their dead bodies were found about 100 ft from the entrance. It seemed they realized they were in trouble and were trying to get out. Anybody even thinking about exploring an abandoned mine needs to consider the risks they are taking. Those include bad air, caustic water, and rotting timbers. The miners used to carry parakeets in cages when they went into the mines. These weren't pets. The parakeets would die first from bad air and give the miners a chance to get out. Water that you find in that mine is likely going to be caustic and full of heavy metals. It can burn on contact. It can poison you. The wood has been there for more than a hundred years and has been rotting all this time. The timber supports can give way at any time, burying you behind thousands of tons of rock. That seemingly solid floor can be plywood covered with dirt and covering a vertical shaft. One opened behind the local high school and no bottom could be found at more than a thousand feet. They plugged that shaft. If I persuaded even one person not to do something so foolhardy as to go into an abandoned mineshaft, then the time I spent writing this is time well spent.
Exploring abandoned mines is cool, but also dangerous. Would you ever do it?

Actually the trip with Mike Griffin was without Adeo. I was there actually and arranged the trip. I was also there on the earlier trip with Adeo (image attached). When the Russians would not do a deal for Strela or Dnepr, Elon turned to Mike and me on the plane back and said ‘I think we can make this rocket ourselves’. He had a spreadsheet of a rocket design and showed us. He had been working with Chris Thompson @zip465 (who was SpaceX employee number two and is now President of @PhantomSpaceC ) but had been working with Elon on the greenhouse lander for Mars and the design for an American rocket that could take it there. That became @SpaceX. I joined as employee number four and VP of business development. Just to keep the record straight

Nevada came up with over a billion dollars in tax abatement for Tesla to bring their Gigafactory to Reno, and it is the best business deal we ever did. Reno went from 13% unemployment to essentially zero.
TERAFAB: As I reported yesterday, SpaceX purchasing company Wit Tech LLC. has started acquiring 3,135 acres in Grimes County, Texas, for the Terafab semiconductor and advanced computing chip manufacturing plant near Gibbons Creek Reservoir. Officials are holding a public hearing tomorrow, June 3rd, on SpaceX’s proposal. The county has posted the following two items for the hearing: - SpaceX Public Hearing Item 1 - Tax Abatement - SpaceX Public Hearing Item 2 - Reinvestment Zone The public hearing will be at 9:00 a.m. CST at the Grimes County Commissioner Courtroom, located in the Grimes County Justice & Business Center, 270 FM 149 W., Anderson, Texas. Upon the close of the public hearing, the Commissioners Court intends to take action on approval of a property tax abatement agreement and whether or not to establish and designate the Reinvestment Zone. Its designation would be "SpaceX Reinvestment Zone No. 1 – 2026-001." Per County Judge Joe Fauth, "I’d like to put this to bed on Wednesday. SpaceX can then start digging dirt and doing what they need to do to build their operation. Or we just say, you know what? We can’t come to it, and we don’t have an agreement. This is a big deal. At the end of the day, this is a generational change for Grimes County, if indeed it does go through. In the back of my head, maybe we could limit some of the anxiety of our citizens by not having five, ten, 15 data centers, battery locations, power generations throughout the county. Maybe we could just have one or two majors, and then we could go back to the comfort of, hey, Grimes County is a nice place to live. We have the semi-final word. We’re going to offer this tax abatement. This is what we’re proposing. And then SpaceX would also have the opportunity to say, 'We’re going to come in, or we’re not coming in.'"

Here's an interesting video I came across, that a shipping container overflow site is being constructed in the Nevada desert near Fernly, just east of the Nevada Gigafactory. This takes advantage of Nevada's Freeport laws that do not tax goods in transit, and will perfectly fit the short range Semi for drayage. youtu.be/jNy-G7Qw2ko?si=eD0F…

His internet has been slow for 6 months. So, he paid Comcast to upgrade his tier. Speeds got worse. He called Comcast again. They blamed his router. He bought a new one. Still slow. He called a third time. They sent a technician out. The tech ran a speed test from inside the modem and said:"Speeds are fine on our end. Must be your devices." A neighbor who works in IT came over the next weekend with his laptop. He looked at the router for two minutes, opened the admin panel, and pointed at four settings on the screen. "Comcast pushed a firmware update last year. They enabled all four of these silently. This is why your internet is slow. This is why every Comcast customer's internet got slower around the same time." Here's exactly what he found and turned off. 🧵

I admit I am completely puzzled by the Tesla Semi battery pack. The Cybertruck has 4680 cells and has charging issues. The PepsiCo Semis have 2170 cells to my certain knowledge. Tesla says the refreshed Semi has 4680 cells. Is this a new chemistry? The puzzle pieces don't fit.

I am a huge Tesla Semi fan and have been talking about its future while others were still claiming it was vaporware. That said, my unpopular opinion is that it's not going to be used for long haul in any significant numbers for years, even decades, nor is that where it is needed most. It's forte for at least the first few million trucks is going to be drayage and regional runs. Drayage is something we're seeing develop in real time, with hundreds of Tesla Semis already on order. Once there are sufficient numbers of Tesla Semis, and other electric trucks, diesel trucks will be banned from this nation's ports. The truck companies see this writing on the wall clearly and thus the high interest. Regional runs require some explanation of logistics. Every store in this land, be they grocery stores, hardware stores, department stores, or whatever, are supplied from regional warehouses and distribution centers, usually for a radius of 300 mile around. Trainloads and truckloads go into these warehouses, where they are broken down and fill orders from individual stores. Trucks deliver these orders to the individual stores, and those are regional runs. They are also the dirtiest in terms of air pollution because trucks have to filter through traffic and traffic lights on the way to delivering to those individual stores. Long haul is the cleanest truck transport because those trucks are not doing a lot of starting and stopping as they cruise down the freeway. While the Tesla Semi will certainly be able to do long haul, truck for truck the dirtiest ones are the regional runs and the ports.

GOOD NEWS 🚨 Tesla Semi Orders Are Pouring In 🔥 Heavy-duty fleets are seriously ramping up their transition to the Tesla Semi! Two major transport companies operating around California ports have just confirmed significant new orders, working alongside infrastructure provider Forum Mobility. Here’s the breakdown of the latest fleet expansions: 📦 Big F Transport – 40 Tesla Semis - The catalyst: After successfully running 9 eCascadias out of the Port of Long Beach, they brought in a Tesla Semi for a demo—and immediately put 40 more on order. - The feedback: Drivers are loving the smooth, quiet ride; shippers are hitting their Scope 3 emission reduction targets; and CFOs are locking in a much better Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) compared to diesel. 🚢 NICA Container Freight Line – 20 Tesla Semis - The investment: This long-standing, family-owned company, which services the Ports of Long Beach, LA, and Houston, is making a major push into advanced tech with a commitment to 20 new Semis. - The timeline: These trucks are slated to be fully operational by early 2027. 🔋 The charging ecosystem Both of these fleets will operate out of Forum Mobility’s upcoming depot under development in Rancho Dominguez. What is really moving the needle here is the economics: fleets are able to lock in Tesla Semi leases and ultra-fast Megawatt Charging System (MCS) access at a significant discount to diesel. ⚓️ The tipping point for electric commercial trucking is officially here 🔥

This is what I've been predicting for a long time. The ports and the regional runs are going to take all the Semis that Tesla can make for years.
TESLA: GlobeNewswire is reporting that WattEV CEO Salim Youssefzadeh just announced an order for 370 Tesla Semis! Deliveries of the first 50 units begin in 2026, with the full fleet operational by end of 2027. Over 300 trucks will operate under a joint program with the Port of Oakland, supported by new Megawatt Charging System stations in Oakland, Fresno, Stockton, and Sacramento. This was announced at the ACT Expo in Las Vegas.

6 years ago today, Alameda County was still barring @elonmusk from reopening Tesla’s Fremont factory (due to Covid restrictions), prompting 2 longtime Tesla short sellers to wonder if Tesla would declare bankruptcy before reporting Q2 earnings. The following day, $TSLA stock traded below $50 (split-adjusted) for the final time. 😎

So it begins. Drayage companies are testing the Tesla Semi for port operations. There is a market for thousands of Tesla Semis in this business alone. When there are enough EV Semis available, diesels will be banned from the nation's ports. You read it here first.
