I think one of the most difficult reckonings of this election is that the incentives we thought inspired voting choices -- a better life for your family and future for your community -- may not be as decisive as the desire to dominate and inflict cruelty on outgroups. Explanations that don't grapple with this point generally read to me like liberal wishcasting.

It’s never MAGA who are asked to reach out to and listen to their liberal friends. It’s always us. Win or lose, we’re supposed to be the ones who extend the olive branch. Fuck that.

Honestly, he dodged a bullet. She saved his ass from further suffering on top of preserving their relationship
CNN is talking to a guy in North Carolina who voted for Harris, he says, because his girlfriend told him she would break up with him otherwise lol

Because humans want certainty and will grasp on to anything no matter how tentative

Ladies, CRUSH your enemies, see them driven before you, hear the screaming and lamentation of the MEN
Women, flex tonight. Be loud. Be heard. Be seen. You're the majority. Show Trump, MAGA, and the nation what happens when they F around with you and rights. Be petty.

If anyone has earned this, Santa Claus, it’s the indomitable women of Russia’s best punk band ever. Don’t let them down St Nick 🎄
dear santa can i fall asleep now and wake up to the news that Kamala won please?

Listen to these tough as nails women, America.
America, don't fuck it up, you won't love it in Putin's Russia

They’re not interested in what Jesus would or wouldn’t do because Jesus would definitely not do white supremacy, and that’s the thing they actually want
Serious questions for Christians before Election Day: 1)Did Jesus preach Kamala's love or Trump's hate? 2)Would Jesus OK tax cuts for billionaires/no medical care for poor? 3)Why is abortion bad/guns & death penalty good? 4)Isn't Trump the false prophet Jesus warned us against?

Certainly a danger. Hopefully the numbers will show women voting against trump starkly enough that women get the attention they deserve
If I can see it coming. If Trump loses, the election commentariat is going to blame Trump's mistakes in the last week. You know who won't get credit they deserve? Kamala Harris, Nancy Pelosi, Liz Cheney, and tens of millions of women who will be responsible for defeating Trump.

This is so on point: Trump is an awful candidate and his campaign organization is mind blowingly incompetent. But he’s managed to work the entrenched racism of our country into a reasonably good chance at winning. An implicit indictment of American society

I keep trying to explain this to liberal folks baffled by Trump’s appeal. When white supremacy (& misogyny) are so crucial to a deeply hidden core identity, nothing will “disqualify” the candidate promising to bring back white supremacy (except maybe disavowing white supremacy)

Every day has another dozen examples, clear evidence that the Trump cult known as the Republican Party cares for nothing except for its own supremacy, the domination of its whiteness and its maleness and the violent domination of a blasphemous religion they call "christianity."

Looks like Trump is not so economically illiterate, and understands tariffs quite well
31 Oct 2024
“So why is Trump so keen on taxing imports? Because the Trump tariffs would create the greatest engine of corruption in history, an institutionalized kleptocracy where import-based business lives or dies by Trump’s favor. Elon’s imported parts might be exempted while GM’s aren’t”

Any true Christian should loathe him, but it’s nice to see at least some actual words about it

If they can’t easily see that it’s Capitalism that enables this, then they’re really shitty historians. It’s plain as day. Doesn’t take decades
Historians will spend decades trying to figure out why western leaders were such cowards in the face of Russian aggression.
