Has been such a blast calling games for the Southlake Carroll dragons this year! To see this team go from 1-8 in District play to winning round 1 of a playoff series has been truly remarkable. Don’t count the Dragons out! Catch next weeks series on @ChampionSports ‼️

Unbelievable work load, unbelievable talent and an even better work ethic. Kid came to work every single day to get better for his teammates. 15/16 years old catching multiple 90 arms. Congrats on the selection @CooperNewby44 many more to come‼️📈

Let's start with Cooper Newby @CooperNewby44, who was selected as the 2nd Team All-District catcher. A switch-hitting sophomore, Cooper caught a whopping 233 innings, throwing out 11 runners and committing only 1 error, while managing a pitching rotation full of top arms.
At the plate, in districts and playoffs, Cooper batted nearly .300 and was 5th on the team in base hits, highlighted by a 3-for-3 night in a big win vs. Byron Nelson early in district play.
Cooper is ranked as the 61st best prospect in the state of Texas by @Texas_PG and 63rd in the state of Texas by @PrepBaseball_TX .
As he returns for his junior season in 2026, we will be looking for big things both offensively and behind the dish. Congratulations, Cooper!

This is how I like lessons to go, hitting lessons are supposed to be a conversation, I’m trying to make sure the player truly understand why we’re doing things and I want to know what’s going on in their heads and what they’re thinking and feeling!!! Hitting is a feel you’re not looking at yourself when hitting so sometimes what you feel you’re doing, you’re really not!!! Stop taking reps with no purpose talk about it

There was a lot to like last night from the sophomore backstop at Southlake. The switch hitter had a couple hits from the left side off a talented arm.
Really stood out behind the plate where he handled a premium arm well. Made a really nice pick on a tough ball in the dirt that led to a back pick to 2nd. Projectable frame. 📈📈
