I spoke with @EricBowlingNews on Edmonton's patio program: "It’s good that the city has recognized there is this unfriendly business perception. So to have this motion go through, I think that really signals the city is listening to small businesses.” 📰 edmontonjournal.com/news/loc…

CFIB is very supportive of Mayor @AndrewKnack's motion to direct @CityofEdmonton administration to develop a revised patio program for 2027 that considers business experience and affordability! Our members have highlighted concerns with the cost of patio fees, this is a strong step in the right direction. #yeg @ElliottKnopp @stevensandor @Emily_AWilliams

Thank you to the Executive Committee members who supported this motion and to the Councillors who voted for a pause on patio fees in the past. Edmonton benefits when small businesses thrive. Karen Principe @reedclarke82 @AFPAElliott Thu Parmar @AshleyASalvador @kerentangyeg

If you’re looking for something to do this weekend, you can’t go wrong supporting local and getting outside to enjoy another great Alberta summer 🤠🌾 It was great to visit the Brooks Farmers’ Market recently and meet some of the hardworking vendors who grow our food, run local businesses, and help keep our communities strong.

CFIB spoke with @ElliottKnopp and @CityNewsYEG on the strategy. While the City highlighted 97% of Edmonton's businesses are small businesses, they were largely absent from the strategy. Edmonton must help reduce the cost of doing business for its entrepreneurs. #yeg

This is an excellent example of red tape reduction from the @AGLC. Licensed small businesses will have greater flexibility to serve liquor as early as 6 a.m. without the need for special approval- saving time and money. 📰 aglc.ca/news/early-liquor-se… @DaleNally_AB #abpoli

⚠️ Alberta missed the May 31 deadline to remove one of the clearest internal trade barriers on direct-to-consumer alcohol shipping. If Alberta is serious about reducing internal trade barriers and supporting economic growth, it needs to follow through on its commitments. #abpoli
Alberta has been a leader in the conversation around breaking down internal trade barriers. That's why it's disappointing to see the May 31 deadline for direct-to-consumer alcohol shipping come and go without full implementation. Small businesses are eager to see momentum turn into action. We're looking forward to seeing Minister @JosephSchowAB get this across the finish line. #abpoli #InternalTrade

Fantastic news @BradleyVis. Thanks to you and CPC MPs for supporting these important changes for small business. CFIB looks forward to working with you to push the govt to make this happen.
Here's how the government can support Canada's small businesses: 1. Increase the current Small Business Deduction Threshold from $500,000 to $700,000 and index it to CPI inflation year after year. This would allow businesses to retain more income at a lower tax rate and support much needed growth. 2. Increase the Small Supplier GST Threshold from $30,000 to $60,000 and index annually to CPI. Raising the threshold reflects modern economic realities, reduces red tape, and reduces compliance burdens on Canadian small businesses. #cdnpoli

A simpler, more streamlined way to access government services is a win for Albertans. Reducing red tape and making everyday interactions easier is always worth celebrating. 👏 #abpoli
One Card. That’s it. Starting July 2, Albertans can get a new driver’s licence or ID card that includes their healthcare number and proof of citizenship, all on one secure card at no additional cost. No more flimsy paper cards. No more carrying multiple pieces of ID. Just a common-sense change that makes life easier.
