This reminds me of how English speakers will complain about the arbitrary rules of other languages and have no idea about the rules for adjective order in English

I can't explain why, but "Bacon and Eggs" sounds like you're having a single dish called Bacon-and-eggs. "Eggs and Bacon" sounds like you're having eggs and you're also having bacon.
