went to the ai-enabled gym. the machines do every lift for you, freeing you to focus on the final rep before death. currently pinned under a 600kg squat while a mckinsey consultant in allbirds points at a 2x2 labelled "human leverage" and whispers "pain is just unextracted value"
wondering why I feel exhausted. maybe: the agents do all the easy stuff, and I have to work through the leftover hard bits, which means I'm perpetually locked in. and as the models get better, "my" work just gets harder and harder, until I'm basically underqualified to do the work (which... is better than the alternative, there's nothing left for me to do, and I'm paperclipped).

probably because a lot of these women have the inner drives of girlbosses and because they don't have careers with paychecks they have to find a way to be "ambitious" at motherhood and the only way is to be better than other moms

I don’t think it’s too much to ask for people to acknowledge that: 1) Some kids are more advanced intellectually than others. And: 2) Those children have every much of a right to an education in which they are challenged and are situated around children of similar abilities as other children have a right to a proper education that suits their particular pace.

I remember that in the before times, the people who are probably on BlueSky now used to yell at me for this allegedly right-wing opinion.
Yes there are some people for whom $30 a week is THE determining factor of whether they use PT. Usually those people are on some kind of benefit. Give them free public transport and charge everyone else appropriately. Make the system reliable and connected.

I am once again advocating that for most people, cost is much, much less of a barrier to public transport use than reliability and connectivity

They should invent a kind of homeownership where instead of paying the bank for 30 years, you pay some kind of service that handles all the maintenance and repair and you can move basically whenever you want without having to pay for the house even if nobody else moves in.

That’s nothing. Women who had a child after the age of 89 lived on average to 127.
Ladies, you need to be babymaxxxxing...especially later in life. Women who had a child after the age of 40 were FOUR TIMES more likely to live to 100. Pregnancies massively increase progesterone, the most healing female hormone.

Sorry but I do not believe that anyone does not have kids because of climate change, in the same way that I do not believe that anyone has kids for the economy smh.com.au/national/there-s-…

Paying old people to be bored, old and left to their own devices without a solid medical reason is strikingly unjustified on current settings People used to be invalids at 60ish, now its closer to 75 or 80
This is right. One of the key mistakes people make in pensions discourse is that it is not 'pensions' but retirement itself which is expensive. Whether we fund it via PAYG taxes or asset accumulation doesn't change the basic economics

asking people to read ai-generated text is offensive. this is not because ai text is intrinsically bad. rather, the author has not paid a cost to write the text himself. this cost is a credible signal he finds its communication important. so: not paying that cost is telling

People who don't realise they aren't sympathetic news stories are so funny to me. Things can be difficult for you personally and you can still be a bad example of a person who's struggling!
May 6
of all the people they could’ve used as example of pensioners struggling with rates increases they had to pick the one who owns a lifestyle block, a retail store, and has tenants boarders lmfao nzherald.co.nz/northern-advo…

Ability grouping, with appropriately tailored curriculum, helps high-achieving students and does not hurt others. The research has pointed this way for a century despite generations of propaganda to the contrary, but it's good to have another reminder. Ability grouping works.
New research shows the err of the detracking movement. Proponents of mixed ability classrooms have prioritized effect to lower ability students so the study addresses that head on. "setting by ability did not “significantly harm the attainment of low-prior-attaining or socioeconomically disadvantaged” pupils. The research also show that mixed ability classes slowed the progress of high performing students -- but we knew that! “I think they should probably now come out and support achievement grouping in maths,” Jerrim said, arguing that “it has no negative impact on lower-achievers, some positive benefits for high-achievers, and helps teachers manage workload”. theguardian.com/education/20…

Replying to @AniseNot
All children have cortisol spikes. The difference is whether it is prolonged/consistent enough to cause damage.
