A statement from Chief Executive of Cancer Research UK, Michelle Mitchell:   “On behalf of everyone at Cancer Research UK, I wish Her Royal Highness a full, swift recovery and return to good health. During this difficult time, it’s important that the Princess is given the time and space to focus on her treatment and that we respect the family’s privacy.   “Nearly one in two of us will develop cancer during our lifetimes, but many more are affected when someone they love is diagnosed with cancer. Thanks to research there is hope - cancer survival has doubled in the last 50 years.   “High profile cancer cases often act as a prompt to encourage people to find out more or think about their own health. If people spot something that's not normal for them or isn't going away, they should check with their GP. It probably won't be cancer. But if it is, spotting it at an early stage means treatment is more likely to be successful.”

It makes me so angry that anyone is forced to reveal private medical details because the press and social media won’t let it lie.

I am so proud to be an official Ambassador for @goodgrieftrust It’s such an important charity that helped me so much when mum died last year. Can’t wait to get started!
This morning we have some exciting news! We are delighted to announce that The Good Grief Trust has a new Ambassador joining our charity this year. We are thrilled to welcome @Liz_ORiordan to our team. Liz is a Breast Surgeon, Author, and Broadcaster. One year ago she sadly experienced the death of her mother, through a rare osteosarcoma. Although Liz herself has breast cancer, she tirelessly campaigns for greater awareness of the disease, offering support and guidance across her social channels, and through her podcast. We know Liz’s energy, spirit and passion to help others through their struggles in life will be a huge asset to our work. Welcome! 🧡☂️

It was my dream to speak at a literary festival last year about my memoir ‘ Under The Knife’. Sometimes things don’t happen but that’s OK. Instead - I’m offering 10 book clubs the chance to have a virtual chat with me instead. Who’s interested????

The day my sweet Daughter found out she had #BrainCancer at age 11. 💔 Ashley was strong, NEVER gave up & was so positive throughout her battle. I’m proud of my Ashley & thank God for allowing us to spend 13 amazing years w/ her. I never want my Ashley to be forgotten & want you to know that Ashley LOVED life & is STILL making a tremendous impact in our childhood cancer community. Your follow will allow us to reach the general public that is still unaware of #ChildhoodCancer 🎗️ Please join our mission, keep our Ashley’s story alive & fight for justice for those who do not have a voice. 🎗️ 💜 𝒜𝓈𝒽𝓁𝑒𝓎 𝑀𝒶𝓇𝒾𝑒 𝑀𝑜𝑜𝓇𝑒 💜

“I rely on my scans. I shouldn't be ringing up my team begging for my appointments.” Jules was diagnosed in November 2021 with stage 4 lung cancer, which has since spread to her spine and pelvis. As her cancer is incurable, she relies on her three-monthly CT scans to keep her informed about her prognosis. She continues to live life to the fullest, but constantly feels she has to advocate for herself to get the care she needs, leaving her feeling angry and frustrated. “I am living life heightened where I'm so sensitized to my appointments being cancelled, and so anxious that my phone is going to ring with another cancellation. It’s affecting everybody around me; my family, my friends, my son, they're all suffering. I have the disease in my body, but they are on the same journey with me. Governments across the UK needs to listen to us.”
