So, we sent this article 6 months ago. Not a word from the editors apart from the automatic message. Yesterday we received a personal email of one editor saying that the article was rejected. No reviews attached. On the website, it said the paper was never assigned to review

My co-author (and first author) reached out to the editor to clarify this situation and ask for the reviews. When they arrived, it didn't occur an hacker to realize some fun facts about said reviews, including who actually did them and how much time...

Rossi, Meluzzi & Lahoz-Bengoechea investigate the acoustic features of Italian sibilant fricatives (/s/, /z/ and /ʃ/) in the speech of L1 Spanish learners. Segmental duration, degree of voicing and place of articulation of learners’ productions are analysed.

I'm really glad of this work, jointly written with two of the most amazing co-authors and researchers I know Martina Rossi & Josè Maria Lahoz
Results from a quantitative analysis suggest that the degree of typological markedness of the phoneme and the influence of the L1 in perception and production affect L2 pronunciation to a different extent for each of the target sounds. Ask @chmeluz for more details.
