As digital tools reshape humanities research, the three-day workshop on 'Essential Digital Skills for Research and Publication in Humanities' began on 26 December 2025 at Gauhati University, jointly organised by the Department of Modern Indian Languages & Literary Studies and the Asomiya Sahitya Sabha.
In his inaugural address, Vice Chancellor Prof. Nani Gopal Mahanta highlighted digital precision, access to digital journals and archives, and the role of AI in language documentation in Northeast India.
Today's workshop featured academic sessions by Prof. Anuradha Sarma (MIL&LS, Gauhati University), and Prof. Debajyoti Biswas (English, Bodoland University). The next two sessions will have Prof. Dilip Borah (MIL&LS, Gauhati University), Dr. Sanjib Borah (Assamese, Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University), Dr. Deepjyoti Kalita (Library & Information Science, Cotton University), and Dr. Gitartha Bordoloi (Physiology, Kokrajhar Medical College), as resource persons, who will provide hands-on training into digital writing, editing, archiving, and emerging research tools relevant to contemporary humanities scholarship.
