A review of 1,325 studies from 50 countries finds the relationship between personality and cognitive abilities are weak: bit.ly/42y7hdQ ($). My take: these associations are so weak as to be irrelevant at the individual level: personality tells us nothing about ability.

It made my heart sink when meeting pupils at a school recently where they said they longed for more interaction in lessons, and their teachers to take an interest in them. The homogenous booklet culture can feel really dystopian when you wander between lessons as a visitor.

Now you’re just turning things into an academic drinking game. But seriously I also like dialogic because it captures the double bind of thinking (logic) and dialogue (language modal and amodal). Unless one sees thinking as a modality in its own right.

It is called dialogic education - teaching how to disagree agreeably when there is more than one perspective in play ( 'dialogic' not 'dialectic' 'cos 'dialectic' got too abstract - real dialogue is needed) thinkingtogether.educ.cam.ac… @Phillipson70 @CEDiR_Group @OracyCambridge
Politics should be taught in primary schools, says @campbellclaret though what way? He suggests 'big issues' or 'arguing'. Maybe dialectical teaching helps in which counter arguments and perspectives are taught alongside each other, then debated... theguardian.com/politics/202…
