There's a real buzz about improving #AorticDissection patient care at @IADSymposium. Great to catch-up during lunch at the "top-of-the-world" with @rebellvascular of @VSGBI and @NHSGIRFT, who is doing so much to advance the cause. @AorticDissectUK #THINKAORTA

Centuries ago the indigenous Inuit and Yupik communities residing in Alaska and northern regions of Canada ingeniously crafted these snow goggles to protect their eyes from the intense reflected light and prevent snow blindness.

Note to @AvantiWestCoast - if you make your tickets wildly unaffordable, no one takes the train. 8.33 to Manchester out of Euston, carriage C... We need to run the railways for public good not private profit

I stood in the 1992 election in Bristol West against health secretary William Waldegrave for the Struck Off & Die Junior Doctors Alliance (SODJDA). My campaign manager @Tonygardner hired an ice cream van for our campaign vehicle. We didn’t get many votes, but we sold lots of 99s. I got to make a speech at the count and said “if we want a better health service, we need to look after the people working in it.” It’s as true now as it was then. Unless we improve the pay, training, employment prospects and working conditions of the staff, the NHS and social care will sink. Equally important is a massive focus on public health and eradicating poverty to prevent people getting sick in the first place.
