I saw on TikTok where a girl planned a surprise anniversary trip for her boyfriend. She saved for months, booked a small beach resort, decorated the room with their photos, and wrote him a long letter about how much she loved him and believed in him. She was shaking when she gave it to him because she really put her heart into it. He skimmed the letter, said “Thanks, babe,” and spent most of the trip on his phone playing games and talking to his friends. I missed my period and told the guy I was seeing. The man who constantly joked about "getting me pregnant." The man who said having his baby would be "the ultimate proof of love." Suddenly looked like he had seen a ghost. His first question wasn't, "Are you okay?" It was, "What are you going to do?" Funny how some men treat pregnancy like a kink until it starts sounding like a legal and financial responsibility. A week later, I found out I wasn't pregnant. He celebrated. Actually celebrated. And in that moment, everything clicked. He didn't want a child. He wanted access to a woman's body without ever having to face the consequences that body might produce. Some people talk about wanting a family the same way children talk about wanting a puppy. They love the idea. They just don't want to be the one cleaning up after it. I ended the relationship soon after. The pregnancy scare lasted a few days. The ick lasted forever.
