had a blast speaking at Config London last week. massive thank you to everyone, and especially @figma for inviting me to face my fear of public speaking (and talk about something I'm very passionate about) the recording is now available on youtube. link in thread ↓

we just wrapped our Spring quarter at @diabrowser. before i jump to the next big thing (!), a short behind-the-scenes on one of my favorite projects to date: artifacts! the design challenge: how do you make AI-generated docs that don’t *feel* AI-generated? (🧵 1/10)

it's been amazing to see the response to this 🖤 i'm reminded of one of my favorite quotes. in this age of AI, i think this is more relevant than ever. having spent much of my career working in bigtech, it's a special opportunity to create something different — usually, we are optimizing for making things that 2 billion people find inoffensive, not creating beauty. polished, perfect output is no longer interesting. humans, with all their flaws and quirks, are.

everyone gets the same art. we wanted to see: could art spark discussion? a watercooler moment? and nothing has made me happier than seeing the reactions inside and outside the company. because underneath all of this is a single goal, one of our company values:

obviously, all this took a whole amazing team: massive shout out to @jonathan_jlo for relentless prototyping, @jeffrafter for caring about grids even more than i do, and @jumhyn for being the voice of reason when it comes to avant-garde chart textures now onto the next project 🚀

the Morning Brief in @diabrowser is one of my favourite projects we've worked on recently, and today it got a shoutout on stage! i had a lot of fun designing these — and we've got more in the works 💫📑

This really resonates with me. Used to do build a lot of websites pre-2013, but stopped once the frameworks got too complicated and I couldn't keep up. we're so back
FWIW designers (like myself) used to code. Then in 2013, React came out, and craftwork became dependency management and CI. Effectively, boxing many of us out.

Spent the weekend making a little photography website 📸 (link in thread) I basically only post photos on IG Stories, but that's not a great format for sharing archives. I wanted a simple grid that's just... every photo I've taken, in reverse chronology. Tada!

As usual with Claude, the first 95% took about an hour... then I spent about whole 2 days fixing stuff and finessing transitions, break points, and loading states. 🥲 It's fun until it's not. photos.xn--rde-0na.co
