An Appeal to the Israeli Minister of Education
@YoavKisch 🇮🇱🙏🏻
We appeal to the Israeli Minister of Education and relevant educational institutions to urgently consider ways of supporting the students of
#Sweida.
Nearly 20,000 students from Grade 9 through Grade 12 are now facing an uncertain future after the Damascus authorities rejected proposals to hold examinations inside Sweida, despite security guarantees and efforts by the United Nations to reach a solution. The UN itself acknowledged that it was unable to overcome the challenges surrounding the issue.
Meanwhile, students are effectively being expected to travel through an unsafe route between Damascus and Sweida — a road that has witnessed repeated security incidents, threats, and attacks against civilians, raising serious concerns among families about the safety of their children.
No student should be forced to choose between education and personal safety.
We therefore call for the exploration of practical alternatives, including online education, remote learning programs, scholarships, academic partnerships, or other emergency educational initiatives that can help protect the educational future of Sweida’s students.
The future of an entire generation should not be jeopardized by circumstances beyond their control.
