Loved this story from @RSVPify CEO @AriDriessen on discovering his engineering ninja is just a kid. It's a risk you take when you tap into the global talent pool. But if the work is great, who cares? The Craft of Conferencing Podcast episode coming soon. It's a good one.

As a conference producer, ending a session on time should not be the goal. Ending on time is assumed. The goal is to create original, engaging content.

Remember the time Zuckerberg almost melted on stage with Kara Swisher? As an interviewer, I seek a mid-point between the subject treating the interview as a forum to say whatever they want and them breaking into a flop sweat. Not easy to achieve. youtu.be/nXrKKwHmPz4

The conference moderator's best friend is the downstage countdown clock. Don't plan an event without it.

Some thoughts for event designers from someone who has curated and moderated countless on-stage panels & fireside chats. Highly scripted sessions are never good. Always leave space for organic diversions. The magic at events is mostly in the unplanned occurrences. #events

On the hook to run a fireside chat? Interviews use both skill and art. The two work together. Picasso mastered drawing before he imagined cubism. Cultivated skills support great art. Fireside chats are often bad but should always be good. I can help. charleslaughlin.substack.com…

There are two reasons why speakers use speaking opportunities to sell vs teach. (Teaching is better). One is having just one gear -- selling. This can be adjusted. The other is laziness. It's easier to run through the pitch deck than to create a memorable talk in your field.

No one sits in a conference hall to be sold to. They are there to learn. So please, teach them something. Even if you think you are there to sell. #conferences #events #b2bevents #publicspeaking

Every skill that falls under the 'conferencing' umbrella can be cultivated. Organizing, ideating, writing, speaking, networking, interviewing, selling. Anyone can learn to do any of these things. And they all come together to create great B2B events.
