The Clock Yourself app trains FAST steps in UNANTICIPATED directions. It is unapologetically 'low-tech", leveraging 12 coordinates of an imaginary clockface so there's no need to wire up mats & sensors. #Versatile #Exergame #ReactionTimeTraining 👉🏻 m.youtube.com/watch?v=uvLu4O…

📷 New podcast conversation! I recently had the pleasure of joining The Proof podcast to talk about osteoporosis, bone health, and exercise — including what the science actually tells us (and what it doesn’t). 📷 Listen here: theproof.com/the-exercise-th…

A thought provoking blog. For those clinicians who haven’t considered this before; Clock Yourself is a metronome app dressed up with fun cognitive challenges to make exercises more engaging and improve adherence. You can absolutely apply it to tendonopathy rehab.
What causes muscle inhibition in tendinopathy? Corticospinal inhibition, right? And how do we fix it? Metronome stair climbing or calf or quads oscillations, right? Well, it is not that simple In this blog we unpack muscle inhibition in tendinopathy. tendinopathyrehab.com/blog/n…

I use @clock_yourself app and some printouts I made. No fancy lights but I argue more mentally challenging and you get same reactiveness. vienvudpt.com/resources
Physio/S&C tweeps: I was about to buy some BlazePods but I see they have got a bit sneaky and now in addition to a high purchase price they are asking for a monthly subscription What's your alternative recommendations?

Exercise is likely much less “mechanically specific” in rehab than is made out Focusing more on the person might create some different outcomes!

BJSM published a whopping big review on exercise and cognition. #Exergames had the largest effect on general cognition and memory. Clock Yourself is an exergame designed to make exercise fun while you work on your cognitive processing & stepping speed bit.ly/3DsoL4N

Hi colleagues. Sorry for my absence. I intended to take a short hiatus from twitter when Elon got involved, and then I just didn't miss it. @MegLowryPT was deleted at some point🤷‍♀️ Is this there a better platform for academic/professional exchange or is this still it?

Train anticipatory control. Learn proactively shift your weight or move your body prior to making movements that make you unstable. Here's an idea for practicing anticipatory control. If you don't have fancy light thingys, use the app @clock_yourself. youtu.be/AnZxei9rJr4

A clockface is a familiar mental model for most people. But it embodies a lot of symbolism that requires some higher executive cognitive skills to make sense of it. The different levels of the @clock_yourself exercise app either simplify the clock, or add cognitive complexity.

Older adults should perform resistance exercise for many different health benefits, but I get tired of seeing bold claims that strength exercise reduces fall risk without any further nuance/context (as in this recent infographic from doi-org.mu.idm.oclc.org/10.1…) Our best evidence...

Step response training Clock Yourself is my favourite rehab app… simple but effective to incorporate skill progressions based on: ✅ Planned to random ✅ Dual tasking / cognitive load ✅ Step speed Plus it’s easy to quantify volume… …and clients love it!
