The species I most wanted to see on my visit to Alaska was Spectacled Eider. I had to make the long visit up to Barrow to see this beautiful species. I was not disappointed! @USFWS@USFWSRefuges#Wildfowl#Alaska
After a few visits I have at last seen my first Silver-studded Blues up the road from my house in Christchurch. There were 8 males looking very fresh appearing after the heavy rain this morning. @savebutterflies
Doing well for Stag Beetles in my West Christchurch, Dorset, garden. 2 last night. One really big male and the other not so large. Then both together for comparison. Lucky to live in a good area for this magnificent beetle.
We had a surprise visit to a #NewForest stream recently. This #Razorbill was recorded on a trail camera probably resting after some weather pushed it off course.
The Razorbill is a coastal seabird and would usually be found in marine or intertidal water.

The stunning Adonis Blue is starting to emerge in Wiltshire. I saw 2 males which opened their wings as the sun came out after the cloud had moved over. This male was very cooperative. Also saw Common and Small Blues. @savebutterflies
I really love the Marsh Fritillary, so much variety in their markings. My trip to Wiltshire started in cool cloud but when the sun eventually came out numbers soared and most were very fresh and it is very early in their flight season. I saw at least 20. @savebutterflies
Visited the Isle of Wight for Glanville Fritillary butterflies and saw around 10 or so. They are still coming out as all looked mint, one even climbed on my finger. I also managed to see a caterpillar so it could well be a good long season.
At last I have caught up with seeing my first Pearl-bordered Fritillaries of 2026 in the New Forest. Very active in the heat but all very fresh looking. Took a long while to get any photos. @savebutterflies
Male Red-spotted Bluethroat at Swineham, Dorset. Feeding on the footpath after a wait today. Beautiful bird and did show well on and off today. @DorsetBirdClub
I have been out of the country from the end of February, so have missed out on the Large Tortoiseshell action. I thought I had missed out on them altogether, but today tuned up trumps. A large female was found at Hengistbury Head at around 14.00.A different one was seen yesterday
Much better conditions to watch and photograph the Kildeer at Ripley, Hants today. Rain stopped and it brightened up. There was also a Little Gull on the water showing well but distantly. White-tailed Eagle flew over as left. @BirdGuides
A lifer on my doorstep. Distant and cropped photo of the Killdeer which turned up at Ripley Reservoir, Hants. Never thought I would see one in January. 2nd record for Hants I believe but may have been an even earlier record I am informed.
