That day when the app you worked on for 4 years gets 1M downloads in a day, jumps to #1 on iOS and Android stores and becomes a meme overnight

I don't have a CS degree...or any degree. Some of our best engineers at GitHub never even graduated high school. But also, some of them had a BS, masters, or PhD in CS. Amazing programmers come from all backgrounds. Using formal education as a hiring filter is nonsense.

The biggest advantage of working remotely is that you no longer have to pretend to work 60 hours a week.

The most common Rumsfeld's I come across are the missing ones - the unknown knowns i.e. the things we don't know that we actually know. It's endless e.g. X : Let us build a new project to do this. Me : Can I suggest we look at the 73 times we've previously done that?

Dear @bendingspoons can you please clarify if #Immuni, the app chosen by Italian government for contact tracing of covid-19 carriers, is or will be open source? Please RT or like this. I cannot find this information anywhere and we really need an answer.

The best Zoom alternative is fewer virtual meetings and more considered, long-form write-ups. It won’t replace them all, but if your remote day is nothing but a long series of Zoom meetings with small breaks in between, you’re probably doing it wrong.

Ending 4th week of lockdown: I saw myself and other people in Italy go through 3 phases: 1st week we can manage it; 2nd/3rd week OMG this is too hard, this is a nightmare, this will never end!!!; 4th week... well this is not so bad, I'm not sure I'll want to go out anymore... 😂

Medics from Wuhan came to help Italy with advice and this is the readout. And I thought Milan was doing a good job at lockdown. Lessons for New York as well.

Project Managers are responsible for ensuring that a fundamentally unpredictable process delivers to plan. Given this onerous mission, they can only have a superficial understanding of what is being developed and why.

Shocking revelation: software development is a design process rather than a production process - it is futile to chase predictability and important to chase value.
