You’ve probably heard, I graduated from Future London Academy’s Executive Program for Design Leaders on friday. The design MBA challenged everything I thought I knew. Before this, I thought a mainstream MBA was all I needed to fuel this insane amount of curiosity I daily brewed on what it meant to be a business-minded designer but after doing it, I realized it wasn’t. I could say beyond a doubt that this was all I needed to move to the next phase of my career. From the first day I stepped into the programme in London, which also happened to be my first time out of Nigeria, I knew I had met a new family. A family of teachers, delegates and staff who opened up their arms to me and never got tired of my questions 😀. The learnings, friends, family and experiences will stay with me forever. It felt like I had travelled to all 18 countries represented in my cohort, experiencing their world through their lenses. I wish I could go into all the stories, but not today 🫣. Thank you Ekaterina Solomeina, DLX Mohammed Saiful Hussain, DLX for this incredible and thoughtful design of the programme and for connecting me with a new international family. The future is much clearer, with a new level of audacity unlocked in me along with a new level of responsibility for being an internationally recognized design leader. one dangerous thing in business today is the appearance of execution where there is no execution. this is a caveat for stakeholders and investors especially. i've seen it firsthand: a venture presented as if something massive was being built, with all the signs of momentum carefully arranged to create excitement and attract cheques. sweet mouths are everywhere today and you must be wary of them. real estate developments, startups, investment schemes, crypto projects, and NGOs (this one, lol). too long, didn't read: do your due diligence. don't rely solely on what is shown to you. a two-minute video can be staged. drone footage can make a small site look enormous. fake waitlists. fake traction. even FOMO and "investor interest" can be exaggerated. way too long, didn't read: before you invest time or money in anything, verify. then verify again. 🤝🏾

Don't let the illusion of choice kill you—you don't have many options. If you find a good one, a really good one you have possibly never found before, do everything right and in your power to never let it go if it also wants to stay.

Might end up creating a whole series of World Cup poster designs. The most enjoyable part was illustrating the World Cup trophy. The stadium was a lot of manual labor. 😂
