According to cwvtech.report 🤓 sites using @htmx_org 🗿or @elixirphoenix 🔥 perform better on CWV, INP & Lighthouse score than sites using React, Svelte, Vue, Angular and even Rails Hotwire Turbo, Laravel Livewire😎 probably due in large part to the lower page weight 🗿

It'd be nice to have more programming languages that are "X but with breaking changes". I don't care if it's called "Go 2" or "Julia 2" or if it's called "Gone" and "Julietta". Neither stops you from continuing to work on improving the stable versions Go 1 and Julia 1.

Programming languages strive for stability after reaching mass adoption to avoid breaking existing usecases. But this stability comes at the cost of improvement. • C# struggled to add unions • Python can't enforce types • Java has unsafe nulls

I think this is evidence that an LLM's "meaning" matrix is still largely a predictive text matrix.

Yeah it seems terrible at this, I suspect because rare words are extremely unlikely to be the predicted next token. Its vocab is pretty limited even if you ask it to use more rare words with you.

🧪 Experiment in building a minimal programming language. Focus on parsing and executing directives, less about language features. Inspired by the legendary c4 project. View everything on langsagne.vercel.app

The biggest risk of fully autonomous AI coding isn't bugs, it's comprehension debt. Your codebase evolves whlie you're not looking and now you don't understand how it works, what tradeoffs were made and why, and lose confidence in the direction to push the project.

"Client-side" & "front-end" often get mixed up, as do "server-side" & "back-end". Client-side front-end = vanilla JS/hyperscript/Alpine/datastar signals Server-side front-end = datastar http/htmx Back-end = database, event sourcing, business logic, networking, infrastructure

The team that has members doing 200 commits a day? Bro, I don't even think they know how to fix claude code
Kind of crazy that Anthropic spends more time trying to lock out better apps and harnesses instead of just fixing Claude Code

Remember to please don't use Datastar it's really bad. Use React or better get real job like nursing, child care or paramedic.

A short list of things that I don't like about Zed (@zeddotdev) text editor, followed by the things that I do like. All of the things I don't like about it are problems in other editors too, and configurable. Some of the things I do like about it are unique to Zed❤️‍🔥 @rtfeldman

Prompt to ask whether people want format_on_save the first time they save. I didn't realise my formatting had been greatly changed in one part of the file before I made further changes. I'd guess this creates more overall inconvenience & dissatisfaction than a prompt. @rtfeldman

The JangaFX website is an unreliable source for the software they use because it's a primary source. Let's do a round of Chinese Whispers first and then ask the person at the end.

List of things I prefer about Datastar to Javascript-heavy SPA frameworks like React, and even compared to the good ones like Svelte.
To answer your question about what Datastar has to offer that's better, all I can say without better tests of performance and code complexity is: 1) Core framework is <250 LOC. Everything else is an optional plugin, 12KB total, can write your own. 2) Easy mental model. It... 2/n
