Substitutes or less frequently used alternatives need to be vetted. It seems many issues with value engineering don’t appear until commissioning phase. These impacts trust in the system. Staging in advance and verifying designs with manf. can go a long way #avintheam

I’m also a monorail fan. It’s so much easier than waiting for a car. It pays to buy a multi-day pass and there’s also an #InfoComm24 discount. Here’s a link to learn about all the discounts for show attendees. bit.ly/454oRJb #AVinTheAM #AVTweeps

Learn how to use the Principles of Fitts’s Law to improve your UX/UI Designs 🔥🔥 FREE PDF Cheatsheet! Fitts’s Law was introduced by a psychologist Paul Fitts in 1954. The law has a big importance in human-computer interaction and defines the correlation between a cursor movement or a touch gesture and an interface element. Overview: What is Fitt's Law? The time required to acquire a target area is a function of the ratio between the distance to and size of the target. How does it apply to User Interface design? - Interactive elements should be distinguished from non- - Sometimes a designer can predict where is the prime pixel (the point from which the user will continue interaction). Position more important and related UI elements closer to this pixel. - Magic pixels are the furthest areas from the prime pixel. Avoid placing anything important into these areas. - The outer edges and corners of the UI can be reached with greater speed than anywhere else in the display, due to pinning action of the screen. - UI element is easier to select if its size is increased or the distance to it is decreased. Practical Tips for Using Fitts’s Law: - Reduce the distance from one point to the next in UI and make the target object large enough to enable prompt detection and selection of interactive elements without sacrificing accuracy. - Make every combination of a checkbox/radio label as the entirely clickable area. - Don’t go overboard with putting elements too close to each other or making it too big. Follow visual balance and hierarchy, give the user a breathing room. - Establish a meaningful visual hierarchy in UI elements and content. - Appropriate grouping is important in articulating functionality. - Provide enough space between elements for error-prevention. #ux #uxdesign #ui #uidesign #uxlaws #fittslaw #productdesign #uxprocess #userexperience #design #designthinking #research #userresearch #uxresearch #usertesting #usability #usabilitytesting #prototyping #agile #mvp #startup #digital #visualdesign #graphicdesign #business #startup

The fact is, technology is innovating at a very rapid pace. AV is traditionally slow to adapt. We again are at a crossroads of becoming irrelevant if we don't follow suit. Business will go to those who can provide. #AVinTheAM

one of my frustrations with niches is the blindness...I would like to see more discussion and collaboration, so that new ideas and solutions could find their way into old tired designs #AVintheAM #avtweeps

Every year for trick or treat, I put out big bowls of candy alongside little bags of goldfish/veggie chips and applesauce pouches (for the little ones). Guess which one everybody goes for first? Bet you didn't guess the applesauce lol

Hey, #AVtweeps! @code_kate just said "Equity is not about everyone having an equal experience per se but everybody getting the same value out of the meeting that they're having" What are your thoughts? Catch the end of the discussion here: lavnch.com/lavnch-week/lavnc…. @ViewSonic

Bonus episode this month! 😁
While I was at Infocomm, I caught up with my friend Emily Eicher from Q-Sys. We had a chance to chat about one of our shared passions: automation! 😁 Check out our convo here: youtu.be/28vLSucIysg

Ok #AskTheProgrammer fans. Count down to #InfoComm24. Let’s get your ideas for a programmer meet up at the show. Either message @stevegreenblatt or myself with your ideas. What could be a fun coding puzzle we could do?
A programmer meeting would be so cool! Might have to make it something where puzzle-solving is involved to get the attendees to actually talk to each other tho 😉 Can you make it like a reverse escape-room? Solve the puzzles to be able to get in the room? 😂 #AVInTheAM

Big thanks to all the wonderful #AVtweeps who helped show my other half just why I love what I do as much as I do! And I don't think the displays of transparent OLED, projection mapping, and automation magic hurt either 😉

Lets add this note.. #Infocomm23 showed that change is in the air. Some mainstays are finding it hard to stay relevant on the island of relevancy. Meanwhile the island is terra forming elsewhere... Tick Tock. #AVintheAM
