OK, so after a slow start this took off in Reddit apparently :D just logged in after 2 days, and it had amassed 7k upvotes and 68k unique visitors over the new years
Made a goofy website for my own NYE enjoyment, but I couldn't resist deploying it to the world, so here is: sandstorm.lol sandstorm.lol

Revisited and republished my Docker article from 2 years ago
Long overdue… but I finally made an actual website for the Furnished Aparments spreadsheet! furnishedapartments.io It's as basic as it gets, but at least it's live. Now easier to browse on mobile, which is the main advantage.

- added a simple logo and favicon, why not - added 1 new country (Belgium) from user submission - totaling 27 countries

- 28 countries now, 81 websites in total - site enhancements here and there - e.g. added a hoodmaps link to country page so people can find out where exactly to live
This cookie popup is amazing… Selecting "Essential cookies only" gives you: - 7 seconds of loading spinner, then… - 12 seconds of another loading spinner with a live percentage!! :D

Whoever designs and engineers stuff like this must be happy for their contributions to society after a long day at work figuring out ways to trick people.

The live percentage must be my session ID being carefully erased one character at a time.

Hosted on Heroku Hobby dyno ($7/mo), doesn't seem like there were any hiccups. Reqs per second peaked at 4rps. The 4XX requests are all favicon.ico reqs, 3XX are http->https, it seems like. During peak the response time grew a little. A couple of screenshots for my own archive.

According to my statistics (via @usefathom), 3k people had the tab open at midnight (in their own timezone). Meaning, that's how many people switched to 2021 listening to Sandstorm on this website!
