Introducing Cohere's first open-source coding model: North Mini Code
Small & efficient, designed for agentic performance and built for community input.
As a result of a US government directive, we are suspending access to Claude Fable 5 for all users. You can continue to use all other Claude models.
Here’s what this means for you:
Across Claude products, new sessions will run on your selected default model or Opus 4.8, and existing Fable 5 sessions will end with an error.
On the Claude Platform, requests to Fable 5 will also return an error. Please update your integrations to other Claude models.
We know this is a disruption to your workflows; we appreciate your patience and support.
When you rent your artificial intelligence, you have no control, and no choice. This is why sovereignty and ownership matters.
Whether it means using your own hardware, open source, or deep customization. Own your AI, own your future.
We released North Mini Code, our first open-source coding model, just two days ago. We’re already seeing developers using it to build amazing things ⬇️
These tests measure performance in varying signal-to-noise conditions: the kinds of audio found in meeting rooms, contact centres, & phone calls.
In other words, environments where enterprise speech applications actually operate. Cohere Transcribe ranked #1 across every metric:

One paper from three years ago has been influencing policymakers around the world about labour decisions regarding AI.
What happens when the gap between the evidence and new policy widens? Our report from @Cohere_Labs looks at these effects, as part of a new research direction exploring how AI impacts the future of work:
