I think this tweet is a good way to understand the urbanism vs YIMBYism split. Sure, sporting events in walkable neighborhoods are a uniquely fun experience. Highly recommend seeing a European soccer match where you get to march with the fans to the stadium! But NFL stadiums are massive facilities that sit unused 90% of the year. These stadiums also produce externalities that aren't always pleasant for nearby non-sports going residents and non-sports related businesses. Is the best use of high-value, centrally-located urban land really a 80,000 seat stadium?
it's 1am and i'm looking at stadiums in tokyo and madrid and buenos aires where fans walk to the match through actual neighborhoods and then i look at metlife stadium on the new jersey turnpike and i need to lie down

I am sure some of my DC mutuals don’t pay attention to local politics here. But today’s primary elections are the most important in over a decade, and whoever wins today is likely going to be our next mayor.

Coco is still missing, but we are finally on a plane heading back to DC. Thank you so much to everyone who has been helping search for her, sharing posts, and keeping an eye out. Knowing there are so many people who care is helping us get through an incredibly difficult time. Coco is a rescue and is very skittish around strangers. If you see her, please do not chase her. Instead, please call the number on the flyer or text me at 202-709-7873 with her location and any details you can provide. We should be landing in about 2 hours and will be back searching as soon as we arrive. Thank you all for your support, prayers, and help bringing Coco home. ❤️🐾
We just got word that Coco was seen in Bethesda by Westbrook Elementary School. If anyone is in that area and you see her can you call 202-321-5701. Do not approach her she may run away

Check out a piece I wrote for @51stnews about the moment DC is facing: Trump’s assault on our democracy and economy, and the need for leadership to meet the moment and move our city forward. Tomorrow, I’m asking you to rank me #1 for Mayor. I’ll fight and deliver for ALL DC. 51st.news/kenyan-mcduffie-dc…

Ah, a staffer ordered to pretend to believe legislation that nobody remembers will be pivotal in an election. Been there. Enjoy losing — (btw their actual strategy is continued trans panic stuff, which won’t work)

If you told literally anyone in national politics this they wouldn’t stop laughing for an hour.
So JLG’s communications director continues to work for the union running her Super PAC? This is clear cut!

Folks I respect are torching OCF for this but what are they supposed to do? Withhold rulings until after an election? That’s a disservice to the public JLG can dispute this and people can come to their own conclusions

You can’t run a ‘people first’ campaign and misuse the people’s funds. OCF just fined Janeese Lewis George’s campaign $16K for unlawfully coordinating with unions. This underscores what we already knew: she can’t be trusted. Worse? She straight up lied about it. Her pattern of unethical behavior proves she’s unfit to lead our city.
