Hey everyone, and happy April the 1st. I guess this is the moment where I should announce something completely ridiculous about Checkout Summit 2026.
Like, I don't know, we're turning it into a fully AI conference with no speakers, no audience, just bots talking to each other. But no.
So, as you know, we made a very deliberate choice this year. No recordings, no live streams. The goal is to keep everything really valuable for those coming to Palermo. But over the past few weeks, I've been speaking with a lot of people, and right now, travel isn't easy. Many people have had loads of problems.
So I decided to do something about this, and drum rolls...
On May the 7th and May the 8th, I'm running Checkout Summit Reloaded, which is a live online edition where all the talks come back, but not as recordings. So each speaker will rerun their talk live, tailored specifically for an online audience.
We'll also have additional guest speakers, all covering the ins and outs of WooCommerce. That means that you can watch everything live, you can ask questions, you can interact with the speakers, you can chat with other attendees, and if you can make it live, recordings will be available for you forever.
I'm expecting anywhere between 100 and 1,000 WooCommerce professionals from all over the world. So if that sounds interesting, just go to checkoutsummit.com/reloaded/ for all the details.

Excited to share the first Checkout Summit 2026 speaker announcement today: Patrick Rauland
@BFTrick was someone I followed back in the Woo days—I really admired his blog posts and content. Fast forward, and now he’s joining us at Checkout Summit!
Patrick is the Sr. Ecommerce Engineer at Xero Shoes, helping grow their online presence and sales. He’s led three major WooCommerce releases, co-founded WooSesh, launched products on Kickstarter, and shares his knowledge via LinkedIn Learning and Packt.
His talk: “An Apples-to-Apples Look at WooCommerce vs. Shopify After a Large-Scale Migration”, is going to be amazing. We’re talking millions of orders, customers, custom products, and bespoke flows—the kind of stuff that only comes from real, large-scale experience.
Check out Patrick’s profile (and the other speakers) here: checkoutsummit.com/speakers/
I can’t wait to share the rest of the presentations over the coming weeks!
Doing some WP site maintenance work. Needed to rip out some old GA/GTM plugins that are no longer supported - it was the perfect opportunity to take @google Site Kit for a spin. One of the best plugin onboarding experiences in a long time. Kudos to @james_ozzie and team!
Experimenting with Claude Code the new WordPress Agent Skills and having lots of fun.

Great roundup on Shopify and WooCommerce in 2026 from @SRHDesign in newsletter.loopwp.com/p/issu…
I think Woo will find it increasingly hard to compete with Shopify in 2026 unless there's a radical change to how Woo is developed.
