New Zealand-built PAC P-750 XSTOL crashes shortly after takeoff, killing the pilot and 11 skydivers for a total of 12 dead. The engine is a Canadian-made Pratt & Whitney PT6A-34. The crash of N221BN points to likely sudden engine power reduction creating a dangerous "low and slow" condition. It is suspected the pilot tried a quick return to the field or at least to clear the highway and then stalled. Pilot error factors include possible delayed recognition of the power issue. Known issues with this aircraft include PT6 engine compressor turbine blade fatigue cracks that can cause sudden power loss or shutdown, especially after overhaul if trailing edge specs are not exact. Past PAC P-750 XSTOL accidents involved engine power loss on takeoff, climb power rollback, stalls during low altitude turns, and hard landings. Another factor is the plane could have been overloaded. I will say the same thing I said in the wake of the death of the criminal George Floyd now that everyone is finally paying attention to the Novak murder in the UK. ALL LIVES MATTER. People are going to try to turn this into a white vs non-white issue. And there are legitimate grievances if you’re a white UK resident. Re-embrace western values.
