Announcing the 12th Annual SNS Concussion & Brain Health Symposium May 2-4th in Philadelphia, PA! What better way to mark #NationalConcussionAwarenessDay than saving the date to meet with your colleagues to continue to learn about sports concussion and brain health?
For crying out loud people…
PLEASE stop putting qualifiers such as ‘mild’ when diagnosing concussions.
Or severe or whatever adjective you feel compelled to add. Please, please stop.
Concussed or not. That’s good enough.
As kids return to activity, remember appropriate care for #pedsconcussion can improve recovery & prevent serious injury. #CHEO's Dr. Zemek's new publication in @CanPaedSociety's journal shares key clinical recommendations for pediatricians family docs: ow.ly/pwVM50FeSQM
Nothing frustrates this doctor more when evaluating concussions of hearing kids continuing to play through them.
It’s happening more often again these last few years.
This isn’t good.
And the majority are well aware they are playing through it.
We need to do better.
Can be easy to cherry pick statistics to fit a narrative or highlight what may catch the eye of mainstream media outlets. Most of us have done it at one time or another.
Thanks @christinebaugh for this thread. Reviewing ALL the information matters.
The details matter.
A recent study about concussion & head impact exposure in college football:

Has often been covered with a punchline like "practices pose more concussion risk than games": nytimes.com/2021/02/01/sport…
Is that what the study finds? Let's explore.
A thread:
"Preinjury mental health problems appear to confer risk for worse clinical outcome after sport-related #concussion." @OJSM_SportsMed [Happy to see our study is not only included in this review but rated amongst the top articles with the highest quality] journals.sagepub.com/doi/ful…
It is with deep sadness we close our clinic doors today in Barrie, ON due to the impact of Covid-19. This is a great loss to our sport and medical community @celliottability@fordnation@DougShipleyBSOM@SamHillMD @TeamRVH Thank you to our patients for your support. #OMA#Barrie
This is very unfortunate. Concussion North was a flagship for inter-professional concussion care in Canada. Thank you @sbjockdoc for your support and guidance. It will be exciting to see what the next chapter has in store.
This is an absolute loss to the province-I have thoroughly enjoyed collaborating with @sbjockdoc and @concussionnorth in caring for people who have sustained #concussions. There was nothing like what @concussionnorth built and offered. Thank you and I hope to work with you again!

So sad to see this come to a close. I know @sbjockdoc will still provide amazing care to patients and their families. May the future waters stay smooth!
The impact of this is unmeasurable, our athletes, our young people, our students, our parents, ourselves, and our community are now at a great loss. @sbjockdoc and her team have given life back to so many individuals. #concussion#returntolearn#returntosport#returntolife
